HPHewlett Packard at PMA 2007 : Naturally HP was also present at the PMA and in their huge booth, packed with new printing solutions, HP gave us an impression of their new assortment for the upcoming season. Many printing stations were being demonstrated, from compact printing kiosks that don't take up much room on a counter for example, to large printing kiosks for consumer self-service for ordering and printing digital images in no-time. During my visit at HP something weird had happened; after visiting the booth and chitchatting with my contacts I started photographing the booth and the displayed products. Something we are used to do for many years now and had been looked upon as the most common thing on earth, until recently.

Because this time one of the co-workers came up to me rapidly, telling me that there was absolutely no problem in shooting the booth but it was not appreciated to take pictures of the displayed products. Open mouthed from sheer surprise, since I have witnessed for years that almost every visitor of the PMA walks around taking countless pictures, I started a conversation with this co-worker. At the sight of my press accreditation, it turned out that his request was aiming at the rivalry and not necessarily at the press. Industrial spying at the PMA, next year's subject perhaps?

Hewlett Packard Imaging products
Besides the photo kiosks HP have introduced new printers, accessories and a number of new digital compact cameras. We spotted a remarkable new function on one of the new cameras; green-eye correction for capturing pet animals with flash! Although the cameras alone are not very outstanding, they do offer value for their money. The prices offered by HP are competitive and if you make the effort to take a closer look at the HP compact cameras you will have to admit that the intelligent HP software is very innovative. Before now it was already recognized that this software is capable of superb performances which even increases the expectations of these new camera series.
