Brother Color Laser Printers
The announcement builds on Brother’s legacy of making desired levels of printing functionality available and affordable to the SOHO marketplace. Starting with its market leading monochrome multi-function units and entry level laser printers over 10 years ago, Brother continues to meet the evolutionary output needs of small to medium sized businesses by including as standard a number of enhanced features at new, affordable price points. For years this market has been looking for a viable, everyday color printer. While many initially chose color ink jet printers for occasional color printing, they are now discovering the ability of color laser printers to satisfy the needs of those who need to print higher volumes of color documents quickly and affordably on a daily basis. The Brother HL-4000 series ideally addresses both the performance and value these users have been searching for.
Monochrome laser printing market
“Being a major player in the monochrome laser printing market, and given the current market trends, our color laser line expansion is appropriately timed to serve the expanding color laser printing market,” said Jeff Sandler, Brother Director of Marketing for Printers. “These new Brother developed single pass color laser printers clearly demonstrate our level of engineering expertise and market commitment.” The NPD Group, a leading market research company, echo's the impact of Brother's new product announcement. "Our retail tracking service shows that Brother is a major player in the monochrome printer business with just under 30% unit share in 2006," said Stephen Baker, Vice President, Industry Analysis NPD. “Brother's expansion into color laser printers, coupled with its established position in monochrome printers, will make it possible for Brother to grow its brand and bring new competition to the printer market in 2007."
Brother HL Laser Printer
The HL-4000 Series features an up to 21 page per minute print engine for both color and monochrome output. At this level of performance, users can concentrate on producing and delivering their work, rather than waiting for the critical output they need for their busy daily routines. But the HL-4000’s speed does not come at the expense of print quality. Both models produce colorful, high resolution 2400 x 600 dpi output that results in razor sharp text and brilliant color quality to consistently produce professionally looking documents. Each printer has built-in Ethernet network connectivity standard, in addition to their Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface. Both printers also offer PCL6 emulation, as well as a USB Direct Interface that allows compatibility with both PictBridge and USB Flash Memory Drives.
Low Cost Per Page Printing
The HL-4000 Series uses an easy access front loading system for all consumables. The user has the option of choosing “standard” or “high yield” toners - whichever best fits their budget or type of use. Brother will offer a standard black toner cartridge with a yield of 2,500 pages2 (TN-110BK @ SRP $59.99) or a high yield cartridge with a yield of 5,000 pages2 (TN-115BK @ SRP $92.99). Three standard color toner cartridges will be available with yields of 1,500 pages2 each (TN-110C, TN-110M, and TN-110Y @ SRP $69.99 each) and a high-yield version offering yields of 4,000 pages2 each (TN-115C, TN-115M, and TN-115Y @ SRP $129.99 each). The HL-4000 Series printers come standard with a set of “standard” toner cartridges and a drum unit (DR-110CL with a yield of 17,000 pages3).
