NikonNikon D40x Preview : Last year, Nikon surprised the digital SLR market with the introduction of a six Megapixel camera. As was to be expected, the first reactions were mainly ones of disappointment, because wasn't every self-respecting camera manufacturer competing in the Megapixel race? Nikon stubbornly dug in their heels and introduced the Nikon D40, successfully examining the importance of pixel quality. Today Nikon has introduced the D40x : a sister model to the D40 for anyone who needs more pixels, to for example, make enlargements of a crop of their files or to practise digital photography as a serious hobby. Nikon D40x has the same functionality and user friendliness as the D40, but now has a 10.2 Megapixel CDD image sensor.
Nikon D40x DSLR - Features
The Nikon D40x boasts a 10.2 megapixel CCD image sensor that combines with Nikon’s exclusive 3D Colour Matrix Metering II and auto white balance to produce quality shots that capture the vivid detail and true colour of the subject matter. The Nikon D40x is equipped with the compact, lightweight 3x 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens to provide superb picture sharpness and optimum contrast.

Nikon D40x reflex camera - ISO
The Nikon D40x has a larger range of ISO settings than the Nikon D40. Instead of having 200 ISO as the first sensitivity, the Nikon D40x DSLR has 100 to 1600 ISO as standard ISO series with H1 as extra high ISO. It is not possible to accurately set the ISO in small steps. These refined setting options are reserved for the Nikon D80 and higher models.

Nikon D40x SLR camera - 2.5" LCD screen
An ample 2.5-inch LCD screen means the budding photographer can view, manipulate and navigate their images with ease. Nikons' innovations make it possible to manipulate the images in-camera, allowing amateurs to achieve professional results.

Nikon D40x digital SLR preview
The Nikon D40x is a digital SLR camera with higher resolution for whoever wants more pixels in reserve, to for example, enjoy unlimited freedom when reworking pictures. The Nikon D40x has been upgraded a bit here and there, but has for the most part maintained the character of its younger sibling, the D40. The user-friendly operation with the help of the inbuilt guide function remains unchanged. The emphasis in this concept is on enjoying photography without having to know much about it. LetsGoDigital had a pre-production sample of the new Nikon D40x at the office for a while and will give you a more in-depth look into the possibilities of Nikon's new DSLR in the following comprehensive Nikon D40x preview including a comparison chart and photo gallery.
