FujifilmFujimoto SHP5080 digital lab system : Fujifilm USA, announced that, through its continuing association with Fujimoto, it will offer professional and commercial labs the DIMA Award-winning Fujimoto SHP5080 Digital Lab System, a wide-roll printer/processor combination. Today’s announcement makes it possible for labs to conveniently and affordably expand their digital imaging capabilities and underscores Fujifilm’s commitment to providing imaging professionals with the tools they need to build their business in today’s changing market. The Fujimoto SHP5080 offers outstanding output quality with a solid D-Max and stunningly sharp shadow and highlight detail, which is ideal for portrait work.

It also offers the ability to create high-quality poster prints and panoramic prints of up to 40-inches. The system features stationary Micro-Shutter-Array LED continuous-exposure digital head technology with a 60,000-hour light source service life. Regardless of paper width, the Fujimoto SHP5080 delivers a linear writing speed of 36-inches per minute at 400 ppi. Micro-Shutter-Array technology ensures minimal edge flair, even on fine 6-point black type on a white background. “The transition to digital has challenged lab operators to seek new product offerings to offset declines in traditional film revenue,” said Bob Harvey, director of marketing, Imaging Group, Fujifilm USA “Capitalizing on market opportunities for digital print production is one way for labs to meet this challenge. With the Fujimoto SHP5080, labs can begin to expand their business to offer high-quality poster and panoramic print services without breaking the bank.”

From a production standpoint, the Fujimoto SHP5080 is a solid workhorse. Accepting any emulsion widths from 5- to 20-inches, and feeding from dual mounted paper magazines, the SHP5080 can output single-cut image sizes from 130 - 5x7’s up to 50 - 20x30’s or 45 - 20x40’s per hour, or any matched paper width size in between. The output capacity for smaller format prints is also impressive. By nesting images on wide format paper and using standard cut marks so images can be precision cut on an X- or XY-cutter, hourly output capacities for smaller format prints can easily exceed 1,500 per hour. And by using standard ICC profiles, output color balance can be easily matched to outputs from other digital and analog output devices in the lab.

Fujimoto SHP5080 digital lab - 2006 DIMA Shoot-Out award
The Fujimoto SHP5080 Digital Lab, winner of the 2006 DIMA Shoot-Out Award for RA4 Digital Printers in the 13-to-29-inch class, is available for immediate shipment and installation.
