FerraniaFilm and RIP software solution : Ferrania Technologies offered an updated film and RIP software solution that brings simplicity and cost-savings to the in-house film separation process. The OptiJet Plotter-to-Film Solution is ideal for many prepress operations including offset, screen printing, flexo, and sign makers who are looking to economically migrate to a digital environment without incurring the substantial capital investment required by many of today’s alternative systems. Ferrania demonstrated the new solution today as part of its exhibit at the 2007 Photo Marketing Association annual meeting in Las Vegas. Ferrania Technologies is a world leader in private label photographic and inkjet products.

“This complete solution allows for the highest dot quality, which is absolutely critical for consistent print production,” said Don Cacciola, General Manager for Ferrania. “The intelligence and precision of this film separation solution allows in-house operations to achieve a perfect balance of fast turnaround times, low costs and superb print quality. This system will deliver up to 180 lines per inch (lpi), allowing for high resolution performance comparable to significantly higher cost computer-to-press solutions.”

OptiJet RIP sofware
The OptiJet RIP software offers intuitive operation and the flexibility to adapt to any workflow. It provides operators with complete control over dithering, shapes, angle, frequency, stochastic dither and dot-size control. The design of the software also allows for simultaneous image processing, printing and spooling, which allows in-house operations to be much more responsive and measurably more productive. This system can also be used to produce non-certified proofs by utilizing a combination of the OptiJetRIP along with our 190g and 240g OptiJet Universal Semi-Mat Inkjet Proofing Papers. This additional benefit of the system provides one more advantage to smaller printing operations by offering them a cost-effective solution for creating proofs to be used as part of their internal pre-press analysis.

“We’ve leveraged our proven expertise in color management to develop a system that gives every in-house prepress operation exactly what it wants - lower costs, more speed, greater control and higher quality output,” Cacciola said. “For many smaller printers, the current analog technology is quickly becoming obsolete and these operations are in need of an affordable replacement that allows them to upgrade to the digital prepress world. We believe that our plotter-to-film system also can have applications for many of the larger print houses. We expect an extremely strong response to this new solution.”

PermaPix advanced archival inkjet photo paper
In addition to its new in-house film separation solution, Ferrania offers a variety of other products. There is an extensive assortment of inkjet print media, from award-winning PermaPix Advanced Archival inkjet photo paper with PerDura Technology, to a value 50-sheet pack of 4” x 6” glossy photo paper that can retail for less than $5.00. “Choosing the right media for both your consumer and professional customers is an important consideration in this category and Ferrania can assist retailers and distributors in selecting the right product for the right customer,” Cacciola said. “Ferrania’s special advanced multi-layer coating structure ensures precise ink placement, image sharpness and true, lifelike colors. Now, our customers can get our high-quality media in more sizes and stocks than ever - and our trade customers have a greater opportunity to meet specific market needs.”

Ferrania compatible inkjet cartridges
Retailers can make money selling inkjet cartridges as well. Ferrania’s family of compatible inkjet cartridges provides retailers the opportunity to sell high quality compatibles at lower prices. Ferrania offers a retail solution that includes retail prices that are 20 - 70% below the national brand cartridges, while still delivering excellent gross margins to retailers. Ferrania Technologies supplied cartridges are the only inkjet cartridges sold in tamper-proof clamshell packaging. No one else offers this level of protection. “The cost of inkjet cartridges makes them the single largest expense over the life of a desktop printer. The ultimate costs dwarf the initial purchase price of the printer,” said Don Cacciola. “These value-priced cartridges give consumers more choices when they shop and it gives retailers flexibility and depth in their product lines. Best of all, it helps reduce the total cost of ownership for many inkjet printers.”

Ferrania technologies - Inkjet cartridges
The entire selection of inkjet cartridges is designed for 100 percent compatibility in a variety of Epson, Canon, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Lexmark desktop printers and multi-function machines. In addition to extreme reliability, Ferrania’s inkjet cartridges deliver brilliant colors, sharp images and smooth, consistent ink coverage - and they typically provide optimum printing results for a fraction of the cost of OEM printer cartridges. “Consumers deserve choices, value and high-quality output,” Cacciola said. “Ferrania inkjet cartridges deliver on all accounts. We believe they are the industry’s best value for consumers and they represent tremendous selling opportunities for retailers.”

Color print photographic films
Ferrania also offers a complete range of color print photographic films in ISO 100, 200, 400 and 800 speeds. All color print film is the company’s FG Plus series film, which offers sharp detail in images and high performance in contrast and color saturation. The company also offers a complete line of branded and private-label ready-to-use 35mm cameras, including an extensive line of specialty themed cameras, like Baby, Beach, Hispanic, Winter, and the increasingly popular Black & White film camera.
