Durst Image TechnologyDurst photo products at PMA : Durst Image Technology US said the new photo products and solutions it exhibits at the PMA ‘07 trade show, March 8-11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, specifically address the need of photo retailers for simpler, more value-adding workflow-at-retail – not just to produce a greater variety of higher-margin consumer photo products, but to produce them easily, efficiently and cost-effectively. Center stage in Durst’s PMA booth will be a total imaging solution built around the popular Theta 76 “Large-Format Minilab.” It features a comprehensive, fully automatic online ordering system, a built-in densitometer that performs linearization, and a spectrophotometer that creates “self-made” ICC profiles.

In addition, the company will “demo” a highly automated, modular, C-41 process photo book system that is configurable for specific retailers’ needs and handles medium- to high-volume production capacities. PMA attendees also will see a completely redesigned Jota Album Printer, the fully automated inkjet printing system that creates “photo quality” picture books and other attractive, stylish image-based retail products in an efficient, affordable, simple workflow.

Digital photo output solutions for photo labs & retailers
“Photo labs and photo retailers want complete, versatile, easy-to-operate digital photo output solutions that can help them gain entry into the high-potential consumer photo keepsakes business, and that can be upgraded as their operations expand,” said A. Ron Waters, President and CEO of Durst U.S. “All of our photo solutions are developed and regularly improved to emphasize these capabilities. The result is a Durst product portfolio that photo retailers can easily and confidently adopt, operate, maintain and profit from as they transition their business models from 4x6-inch print makers to providers of an array of creative, high-margin digital photo products. That’s what they’ll see in our booth at Photo Marketing Association.”

PMA photo products - Durst digital photo printer
One of the most versatile, affordable digital photo printers ever built is now available in four configurations – emphasizing variety in color output; speed and productivity; “true” black & white output; and efficient, economical printing. The Durst Theta 76 30-Inch Multi-Format Lab System, featuring an in-line processor and Durst’s proprietary fiberoptic LED technology, is best described as a “large-format minilab” that creates high-quality prints from 3.5x5 inches all the way up to 30 inches by 13 feet long. It satisfies a wide range of imaging demands at previously unattainable productivity levels, all with laser-like image sharpness, Durst said.

Durst Theta 76 Multi-Format Lab system - Models
Models in the Theta 76 family include the standard Theta 76 for a wide range of color-process output, the high-speed Theta 76HS, the Theta 76BW for exceptional black & white images, and the Theta 76R roll printer – blending Theta productivity with the reliability and image quality of the highly regarded Durst Epsilon printer that it replaces. Theta 76 imagers are the only printers of their kind with variable back printing for individual images as well as per-print within a nested file, Durst said. The company will display the Theta 76HS and Theta 76BW at PMA, with two new solution components that create a much more efficient, greatly simplified workflow-at-retail.

PMA 2007 - ThetaWeb online ordering system
Making its U.S. debut is the ThetaWeb online ordering system, developed in conjunction with Frontline Systems AB. ThetaWeb is a comprehensive, fully automatic online ordering system that lets customers to upload their images and place orders directly to the retailer or lab – from any computer, at any time, Durst said. In addition, Theta76 imagers (except the Theta 76R) now come with a spectrophotometer , developed in conjunction with Barbieri Electronics SNC, that makes it very easy to achieve high-quality prints by automatically creating accurate ICC profiles and performing other critical image management tasks. The result: on-site processing and printing with more complete performance, but in fewer steps.
