With more than 650 exhibitors and 20,000 convention attendees, the PMA 2007 International Convention and Trade Show is the world's largest annual international photo imaging convention and trade show (held in Las Veags). The main goal of PMA is to help more than 20,000 PMA members, in 100-plus countries, expand their consumer, commercial and industrial markets and increase their profitability. With international headquarters located in Jackson, Michigan, PMA has branch offices in Washington, D.C.; Rosebery, New South Wales, Australia; São Paulo, Brazil; Ancaster, Ontario, Canada; Prague, Welwyn, England; Munich, Germany; Milan, Italy; Mexico City, Mexico; Auckland, New Zealand; and Moscow, Russia. The association operates a home page on the World Wide Web, and publishes a monthly magazine covering all segments of the industry including the digital market, 14 specialized news letters for trade segments and international marketing, and numerous statistical research studies. It conducts two conventions in the U.S. each year, including the world’s largest annual photo imaging trade show. It also conducts smaller conventions in cities around the world. Education in management, sales, marketing and finance is offered via live seminars, CD packages and self-instructional print materials. Individualized services include company and personal credit card programs, business resource products and toll-free access to the PMA “Member Service Center.”

PMA photo imaging retailers
PMA membership is open to all firms doing a substantial portion of their business in photo imaging retailing, processing or service work. The main classes of trade in PMA are photo imaging retailers; image processors of all types; wholesale and mail order photofinishers; minilabs and 1-hour processing labs; in-house, commercial and people labs; professional school photographers; professional picture framers; scrapbook retailers; sports/event photographers; and equipment repair firms. Cooperative memberships are held by firms who manufacture and distribute products and services to the trade.

PMA related trade groups
Related trade groups, attracted to the ability to provide service to its members, became sections of PMA. These sections are: Association of Imaging Executives (AIE) (formerly APCI), Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA), National Association of Photo Equipment Technicians (NAPET), Photo Imaging Education Association (PIEA), Professional Photographic Laboratories Association (PPLA), Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA), Professional School Photographers Association International (PSPA), and the Professional Scrapbook Retailers Organization™ (PSRO). Two professional societies also exist within PMA: the Society of Photographic Consultants, whose members earn the designation Certified Photographic ConsultantTM (CPC), and the Society of Photo Finishing Engineers (SPFE), Professional Scrapbook Retailers Organization (PSRO) and Sports Photographers Association of America (SPAA). Members must pass an entrance exam demonstrating expertise in their field to enter either society.

PMA headquarters
PMA has expanded its headquarters to meet the requirements of its continuous growth. The original 7,000-square-foot headquarters building was sold and a new 15,000-square-foot headquarters located on 23 picturesque acres at 3000 Picture Place just outside the Jackson, Michigan, city limits was opened in 1980. A 10,000-square-foot addition was completed in 1985 and a 17,000-square-foot addition was added in 1996 - thus totaling 42,000 square feet.
