CanonCanon UK appoints Terry Smith as Finance Director : Canon UK and Ireland, has announced the appointment of Terry Smith to the position of Finance Director on the Canon UK Board. Smith joins Canon from his previous role as Finance Director for Unilever PLC, where he held numerous finance positions, including Marketing and Manufacturing Accountant and most recently, Finance Director for Unilever UK Export. He qualified as a management accountant in 2002 and leaves Unilever following eighteen years of service. In his new role at Canon, Terry will be responsible for overseeing Canon UK and Ireland’s finances and working closely with the newly appointed European CBS Finance Director at Canon Europe, Peter Brown.

Andy Vickers, Managing Director, Canon UK and Ireland, said, “Terry brings a wealth of experience to Canon from his time at Unilever, and we are delighted to have him on board. In particular, his understanding of the business and consumer environments in which Canon operates will be particularly valuable as we lead the company forward and look to maintain our strong market position now and in the future.”

Commenting on his appointment, Smith said, “After 18 rewarding years with Unilever I am thrilled to have the opportunity to take up this new challenge. Canon is a world-leader in technology and business practice in the digital imaging marketplace and I’m excited about bringing my expertise to a successful team.” Smith is a keen runner and will compete in the London Marathon for the second time in 2007.
