Kate Moss joins national portrait gallery collection : Acclaimed fashion photographer Corinne Day has produced a new series of portraits of Kate Moss for the National Portrait Gallery. The nine black and white images are all shot in close up in the style of a single frame, capturing both the beauty of the model, as well has her character. Each image is subtly different and reflects a conversation between the sitter and photographer. Day, known for establishing long term relationships with her subjects, has been photographing Moss for over 15 years. In 1984, Kate Moss was discovered by Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm model agency, at JFK airport at the age of just 14. In 1992, she became the Face of Calvin Klein.

Talking about the commission, she said, “I suggested to Kate that we have a conversation about a serious subject. The subject she chose to talk about revealed her true feelings and in turn defined her character.” The image, as well as an interview with Moss will be run in the March issue of British Vogue. The nine images, which have been brought together in one large frame, will be unveiled at the gallery on February 12.
About Kate Moss
In 1984, Kate Moss was discovered by Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm model agency, at JFK airport at the age of just 14, as she prepared to board a flight home to London with her father. After a series of shoots for teenage magazines, it was Harper’s Bazaar that finally launched her into the international arena. In 1992, she became the Face of Calvin Klein. Moss originally spearheaded the controversial ''waif'' look which critics claimed encouraged anorexia in impressionable teenagers. The girl from Croydon, who once said she ''might’ve been a bank manager'' now divides her time between London and LA, where she is often seen at The Viper Rooms, the controversial club owned by her one-time actor boyfriend Johnny Depp. She has appeared in several notable documentaries about the fashion world and in 1995, released a hard-back book of pictures entitled simply ''Kate''. In London she is still represented by Storm.
