CorelCorel Painter X Curriculum : Corel Corporation unveils new curriculum for its industry leading painting and illustration software. The first components of this new visual arts curriculum, Digital Painting and Sketching Using Corel Painter X, are now available free from the Corel website and can be seen at the Corel booth at the TCEA 2007 event (Texas Computer Education Association) in Austin this week. Authored by Stephanie Reese, an accredited high school art teacher who holds a BA in Curriculum Development and a Master’s in Education, the new Corel Painter X curriculum is designed to make it easy for educators to integrate this next-generation digital art studio into high-school art and photography classes.

“Educators are recognizing the tremendous benefits of teaching traditional art technique and theory in a digital environment. From watercolor to oils, pencils to palette knives, this amazing software offers an incredible wealth of brushes, pencils, papers and paints that is simply out of reach for most schools’ limited art supply budgets,” said Rick Champagne, Product Manager for Corel Painter. “Together with this teacher-designed curriculum, Corel Painter X gives educators everything they need to teach the tools that the modern masters are using to earn their living today. The digital world also enables art students to explore creative directions that just wouldn’t be possible with costly traditional mediums.”

Corel Curriculum Training
The curriculum is divided into three units, each covering five 45-minute classes. Subject areas include: an introduction to the tools, paints and brushes in Corel Painter X; exploring composition with the new Divine Proportion tool; transforming photographs into paintings; and techniques for creating digital characters and painting line drawings.

Corel RealBristle Painting System
With Corel Painter, teachers are preparing their students for the future with the premiere professional painting software that is the standard for many of the top professional artists working today. The new Corel Painter X blurs the line between traditional and digital art like never before with the introduction of unparalleled performance, new composition tools and the revolutionary RealBristle Painting System that provides an organic painting and illustration experience - right down to the individual bristles on the brush.

Traditional art education
This latest version of Corel Painter delivers new features and tools that were designed to make it easier than ever to integrate this powerful software into traditional art education. With the new Workspace Manager, teachers can now quickly create and install custom environments that can be specialized by class and study area like watercolor painting or line drawing. Corel Painter X also offers the new Divine Proportion Composition tool, an ideal aid for teaching art theory and the compositional secrets of the Great Masters. Corel Painter X, unveiled by Corel earlier this week, is now available for pre-order and will be available to education customers through Corel’s education licensing program later this month. For more information about Corel Painter X or to download the full-featured trial version throughout the Corel Software website.
