Pentax Optio S7 review at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Pentax S7 digital compact camera. The Pentax Optio S7 is equipped with a Blur Reduction mode (2304 x 1728 pixels) when the Blur Reduction mode is selected), a new feature that lets you take photos at faster shutter speeds for sharper images even in dim lighting conditions such as night scenes and indoor sporting events. The Pentax Optio S7 compact camera smoothly captures movies at 30 fps (frames per second) at sizes up to 640 x 480 pixels. The Pentax Optio S7 comes with FotoNation’s red-eye correction function, which can correct red-eye problems, a side effect of flash photography, after the photo is taken.

Pentax Optio S7 - Optical zoom
According to Steve Digicams: The Pentax S7 comes with a Pentax smc 3x optical zoom lens, which covers a 35mm equivalent focal range of approx. 37.5-112.5mm. I found the 37.5mm wide angle end allows for decent landscape shots as well as interior group portraits. The 112.5mm telephoto zoom will not bring distant objects in to close, but it does offer versatility for shot composition and worked very well for shooting close up individual portraits. There is a small amount of barrel distortion present at full wide angle, but relatively no pin cushioning at the telephoto end."
Pentax Optio S7 review conclusion - Steves Digicams
Steve continues: "For a 7 Megapixel camera of its size the image quality was impressive. Outdoor samples were relatively sharp, but there was some edge softness visible on several samples (check out the sample of the fire station on our samples page.) Images have good color saturation and exposure seems very accurate. Noise levels were fine at lower ISO settings for a model in this class, but as you increase the ISO value using blur reduction mode the noise becomes very noticeable." For this approach Steve is well known world wide and he is welcome to it by his many readers. Beside test reports Steve's site has various other items, like a forum, camera specifications, daily "breaking" news.
