Steve's DigicamsOlympus SP-510UZ review at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Olympus SP-510 UZ Megazoom digital camera. The Olympus SP510 camera incorporates a 10x optical zoom and offers 7 Megapixel resolution. The Olympus SP-510UZ needs just one set of AA batteries for up to 630 shots. Its 7.1 million pixel CCD and 10x optical zoom (equiv. to 38-380mm on a 35mm camera) can be used to shoot any subject from a great distance. 21 pre-defined scene modes are available to make life easy in a wide range of shooting environments including Landscapes and Beach&Snow. BrightCapture increases the camera’s sensitivity to light by boosting the maximum ISO value to a striking 4000.
Olympus SP-510UZ review at Steves DigicamsOlympus SP510 UZ - Shutter release
According to Steve Digicams: Shooting performance was also OK. Power up until the first image is captured was just under 3 seconds. The all important shutter lag (the time between pressing the shutter release and actually capturing the image) measured 1/10 of a second when pre-focused and 4/10 of a second including autofocus. The shot to shot delay when using single exposure mode was 1.8 seconds without the flash and 2 - 4 seconds with the flash (depending on the distance of the subject and battery life.)"

Olympus SP-510UZ review - Test conclusion - Steves Digicams
Steve continues: "The telephoto capabilities of its 10x lens add tremendously to the overall versatility of the camera. This lens covers a 35mm equivalent range of 38 - 380mm. While favoring the telephoto end, the 38mm wide angle extreme still offers a field of view sufficient for large group shots and landscapes. While the 380mm end of the zoom range will please the nature or sports enthusiast, bringing those far off subjects up close and personal. Moderate barrel distortion is exhibited at wide angle, as well as slight pincushioning at the telephoto extreme." You want to learn more about the Olympus digital megazoom camera? Beside test reports Steve's site has various other items, like a forum, camera specifications, daily "breaking" news.
