SamsungSamsung K5 digital audio players gift : Samsung and The Starkey Hearing Foundation teamed up to give the gift of hearing and music to 200 children in the greater South Florida area. Yesterday, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, the Starkey Hearing Foundation and Samsung Electronics presented children with their personally fitted hearing aids along with Samsung K5 digital audio players collectively valued at over $1,000,000. These special children received their gifts from stars such as Leslie Nielsen, Marion Ross, Paul Williams, Extreme Makeover Home Edition’s Eduardo Xol and former Miss America Heather Whitestone McCallum in addition to a pair of NFL greats from the 1985 Chicago Bears Super Bowl team Shaun Gayle and Emery Moorehead.

Furthering the abilities to use today’s technology is an important initiative for Samsung Electronics America. “Samsung is continually looking for opportunities to work with charitable organizations that help children and their families, and we are honored to be part of such a wonderful cause,” said DJ Oh, president and CEO, Samsung Electronics America. “This is truly a special opportunity as we witness children enjoy the sounds of music after they receive the gift of hearing from the Starkey Hearing Foundation.”

Samsung - Starkey Hearing Foundation
The Starkey Hearing Foundation has helped bring the gift of hearing to children around the world through their generous donations to those in need. Every year, the Starkey Hearing Foundation conducts more than 100 hearing mission trips worldwide and provides more than 20,000 hearing aids to the hearing impaired. It is with the help of celebrity and community volunteers, and organizations such as the NFL Alumni Association and Samsung that support the Starkey Foundation in continuing these initiatives.

Samsung K5 digital audio player - Gift of music
Samsung has pledged to work with the Starkey Foundation to help bring the gift of music to this special group of hearing impaired children by providing K5 digital audio players, the industry’s only player that has a built-in slide out speaker. The K5 player’s speaker will provide children with the chance to hear music, perhaps for the first time. The Samsung K5 digital audio player also has 2GB of memory, an alarm clock, and the ability to store and view the children’s favorite digital photos. As an added bonus the 200 K5s will be pre-loaded with the debut album from Jordan Pruitt album “No Ordinary Girl.” The children will receive the Pruitt album prior to its national debut on February 6th, courtesy of Hollywood Records. Pruitt has been on the sold out High School Musical concert tour since November and her song, “Jump to the Rhythm,” is featured in the smash Disney Channel Original Movie and Walt Disney Records’ soundtrack Jump In!

“It is important for us to help children because they are the future of the world - and if we neglect our children, we can't have a good future,” added William Austin, founder of The Starkey Hearing Foundation. "We are grateful to our partners in Samsung and to the NFL Alumni Association for incorporating the Foundation into its Super Bowl activities and providing an international audience for the Foundation’s efforts to help the world to hear.”
