Scuba diving with the Olympus PT-E02 underwater case : LetsGoDigital traveled to Maldives, officially named as Republic of Maldives, to test the Olympus E-330 DSLR camera with the PT-E02 underwater case. The Maldives form a group of atolls in the Indian Ocean about seven hundred kilometers from south-west of Sri Lanka. The twenty-six atolls exist out of 1,192 islets, but only 200 are inhabited by people. For a lot of people the Maldives are one of the most exotic places. For us, it was the perfect occasion for trying out the Olympus E-330 DSLR, the first SLR camera with Live View via a 2.5-inch LCD screen. In combination with the Olympus PT-E02 underwater case; water tight up to a depth of 60 meters and made of a long-lasting, high-quality polycarbonate.

Scuba diving with Live View
A feature like the real continuous live LCD preview gives the photographer and owner of an Olympus E-330 digital SLR camera all the creative flexibility he needs to get the most out of his camera. Especially underwater photographers who are used to working via a display on compact cameras have been waiting for a Live View, as photographs are often taken from a low stand point which makes it difficult to see through the viewfinder properly. Also the visibility is restricted underwater because of the diving mask worn by the diver.
Olympus PT-E02 underwater case
The underwater case for the E-330 is the Olympus PT-E02. This underwater case is water tight up to a depth of 60 meters and is made of a long-lasting, high-quality polycarbonate. This construction protects the Olympus E-300 digital SLR camera not just against water, but also against unexpected jolts. A double o-ring is used to close the Olympus PT-E02 underwater case, and this greatly reduces the risk of leakage.
Olympus E330 for a dive at Maldives
"After everything was prepared, the case was shut by 4 stainless steel fastenings. I checked for the last time to see if all the o-rings were properly in place and the case closed properly. Everything looked solid. I'm ready to go!" Check out our Olympus E-330 scuba dive review, including a Maldives photo gallery.
