SonySony supports Martin Luther King foundation : Sony Pictures announced the company will donate 2.5% of the opening weekend box office receipts of Stomp the yard to the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation. Stomp the yard will be #1 at the box office for the 4-day weekend, bringing in an estimated $26 million. A drama about the quest for individuality and the power of fraternity, Stomp the yard is set in the world of black Greek letter organizations. Sony is making the donation in honor of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. In contributing to the Martin Luther King Memorial Project Foundation, the studio would like to honor the spirit of Dr. King, whose life continues to inspire the youth of today.
