SonySony CompactFlash memory card : Sony Europe’s Recording Media & Energy (RME) division announced the company’s entrance to the CompactFlash memory card market. The first product line-up, to be announced shortly, is designed to handle the demanding speed and performance requirements of digital SLR cameras and is available with up to 4GB of storage capacity for the most demanding user. The first Sony CompactFlash memory cards will be available later this Spring. The initial line-up will include CompactFlash Type I cards with 66x and 133x transfer speeds and capacities between 1GB (Gigabyte) and 4GB. The Sony CompactFlash memory card products will be branded as part of Sony’s α100 D-SLR camera system.

The Sony Alpha A100 camera is engineered to combat blurry pictures through high light sensitivity (up to ISO 1600) and Super SteadyShot image stabilization, a Sony technology that shifts the image sensor to compensate for camera movement. Because Super SteadyShot is built into the camera body, all compatible telephoto, wide-angle, standard and macro lenses are automatically image-stabilized. This also allows from two to 3-1/2 stops of latitude in exposure, which supports hand-held shooting at longer shutter speeds than would otherwise be possible.

With its 10.2 Megapixel APS CCD image sensor, the DIWA Gold awarded Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 camera has one of the highest resolution available in its class. Sony’s Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO) analyzes the captured image data and instantly determines the best exposure and color tonality of an image before JPEG compression. Unlike software optimization of a processed image, DRO is performed in the hardware. It is the first hardware-based DRO solution for high-speed shooting.
