KopinKopin receives 2007 CES Innovations Awards : Kopin, a leading U.S. manufacturer of microdisplays for consumer, military and industrial applications, today announced that a range of mobile video products enabled by its Digital iVison technology will be featured at this week's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Products from two of those companies, Icuiti Corp. and MicroOptical Corp. received prestigious CES Innovations Awards in the ‘Portable Electronics: Audio/Video’ category. Icuiti, of Rochester, New York, is unveiling innovative new video eyewear products with Icuiti 3D technology that makes 3D videos automatically functional to the viewer. The new Kopin-enabled video eyewear products from Icuiti include:
Kopin receives 2007 CES Innovations Awards Kopin iWEAR VR920
An interactive video eyewear with built-in head tracking, microphone and audio. Incorporating two Kopin CyberDisplay VGA (640 x 480) microdisplays, it provides a 3D virtual 62-inch big-screen experience viewed from a distance of nine feet. The iWEAR VR920 is designed for multi-user applications like World of Warcraft, Second Life and Internet chat within virtual worlds. It plugs into a laptop or standard PC through a simple USB and VGA connection.

Kopin iWEAR AV920
Which provides a 3D virtual 62-inch big-screen experience, connects to almost all NTSC or PAL video devices with video output. With an integrated rechargeable battery, it provides five to eight hours of continuous operation.

Kopin iWEAR for iPod
Incorporates two CyberDisplay 230K (320 x 240) microdisplays, transforms the small iPod screen into the equivalent of a 44-inch home theatre viewed from a distance of nine feet. It attaches to and draws power from the iPod’s bottom dock connector, eliminating the need for extra attachments, interface boxes, batteries and cables.

Kopin iWEAR AV230
Which provides a virtual 44-inch screen at a 9-foot distance, has an integrated rechargeable battery and can be plugged into a mobile phone’s AV port without the need for external controllers or other bulky battery attachments. The battery lasts for approximately five hours of continuous operation and can be charged through a mini USB charger for maximum mobility. Two independent focus controls allow viewers to use it without prescription eyeglasses.

MicroOptical patented optics
MicroOptical, based in Westwood, Mass., will highlight the award-winning myvuM video eyewear, which uses two of Kopin's CyberDisplay 230K microdisplays. Designed specifically for the Apple iPod, the lightweight eyewear contains a built-in video viewing system, stereo sound via noise-reducing in-ear earbuds, six-hour battery pack, protective case, and control pendant. Thanks to MicroOptical’s patented optics and the small size of the frame, users can watch video through the device without impeding the view of their surroundings.

Consumer Electronics Show 2007
“The 2007 Consumer Electronics Show highlights many innovative video eyewear products that demonstrate Kopin’s leadership in the mobile video market,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. John C. C. Fan. “Our Digital iVision technology helps bring high-definition, large-screen video images to life in a personal and portable format. Mobile video is at the center of the consumer electronics universe, and our display technology is driving a significant amount of activity in this exciting new segment.” Other Kopin-enabled products being demonstrated at CES include:

Kopin Personal Display Player
From China’s Shenzhen Seepu Technology Co. Ltd. The player uses Kopin’s BDM-230K (Binocular Display Module-230K), a plug-and-play video subsystem in an eyewear format, to deliver full-color QVGA-quality video on the virtual equivalent of a 35-inch screen viewed at a 7-foot distance.

Kopin GVD520 VGA
Developed by Shenzhen Oriscape Electronic Co. Ltd. of China. Equipped with Kopin’s BDM-922K, the eyewear delivers crisp, full-color VGA-quality video in a virtual 48-inch display viewed at a 7-foot distance. Users can control the image contrast and brightness.

Shenzhen Estar Electronic & Technology
Video eyewear products by Shenzhen Estar Electronic & Technology Co., Ltd., including the EVG230, EVG240, EVG920 and EVG920C. The EVG230 incorporating BDM-230K has a built-in rechargeable battery in the eyewear. The EVG240, utilizing two CyberDisplay 230K microdisplays, has a very slim size and is the lightest (only 1.6 oz) in the market. The EVG920 is a VGA video eyewear using Kopin’s BDM-922K with the AV interface. The EVG920C with the 3D feature and the PC interface needs no battery box since it takes power from USB port & video from RGB port of a PC.
