 Rally world champion Annie Seel uses Sonim XP1 : Sonim Technologies, the leader in mobile VoIP and push-to-talk IMS solutions for operators and the global provider of high-performance mobile VoIP applications and devices, announced that rally world champion and Dakar Race class winner Annie Seel has selected the ruggedized Sonim XP1 handset as her team handset. Annie Seel will be supported by the Challenge 75 team. The Dakar race exposes drivers and their equipment to very harsh conditions, including sand and high temperatures. “I choose all my equipment with reliability as the first criterion,” said Annie Seel. “In my opinion, there is no other GSM phone on the market today that is even close to being as ruggedized as the Sonim XP1.

Obviously I, as well as my equipment, must be able to take a few hits during the race. The phones my team and I use must also be sand and water resistant.” Sonim’s unique XP1 handset is the first ruggedized, IP52-compliant handset to double as a GSM phone and as an OMA PoC standards compliant push-to-talk terminal. The Sonim XP1 is designed with such features as extra large interface buttons, an oversized screen for better visibility outdoors, a high volume loudspeaker and extended battery life.
