PhotographyBlogSamsung NV7 OPS review at PhotographyBLOG : DIWA member Mark Goldstein from PhotographyBLOG has reviewed the Samsung NV7 digital camera. The Samsung NV7 OPS features two types of image stabilization, Optical Picture Stabilization, which physically adjusts the CCD to combat handshake and Samsung’s Advanced Shake Reduction (ASR), electronic image stabilization to ensure a steady shot in almost any shooting condition. The 7 Megapixel Samsung NV7 includes a Schneider 7x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 38-270 mm in 35 mm format). For the more advanced photographer looking for additional control, the Samsung NV7 provides multiple manual functions. The Samsung NV7 OPS camera can record video in VGA (640x480) at 30fps.

According to Mark Goldstein: "The Samsung NV7's image quality is below average. The Samsung NV7 handled chromatic aberrations well, with only limited purple fringing effects appearing in very high contrast situations. The 7 Megapixel images were on the soft side straight out of the camera at the default setting of Normal, but you can increase the in-camera sharpening level if you wish. The night photograph was OK, with the maximum shutter speed of 15 seconds allowing you to capture enough light for most situations, but the resulting images were quite noisy."

Mark continues: "The Advanced Shake Reduction shooting mode unfortunately seems to be little more than an automated way of increasing the ISO speed, but the true optical image stabilisation system worked very well, allowing you to hand-hold the camera at slower shutter speeds than normal. The Samsung NV7's main drawback in terms of image quality is noise, with even the slowest speed of ISO 100 showing some noise, particularly in shadow areas. The noise gets progressively worse as you go from ISO 100 to ISO 400 and finally the virtually unusable ISO 800 and 1000 settings." You want to learn more about the Samsung digital camera? About PhotographyBLOG
Mark Goldstein started his very active website PhotographyBLOG in January 2003. At first the one and only purpose was to let this site function as one of those popular web logs with Photography as main topic. But as we all know Photography is a pretty big subject to publish about so Mark decided to focus on some hot key points like mentioning all new introductions, reviews, reports from events like PMA and Photokina, sharing some impressive and creative photos and Mark's sole perspective of his feeling about this fascinating world of Digital Imaging. Mark is based in the UK, but his eagle-eye focuses global.
