SanDiskSanDisk microSD memory cards for Bouygues telecom : SanDisk Corporation announced that French mobile network operator Bouygues Telecom has selected SanDisk’s TrustedFlash technology to enable its customers to download and share music. The announcement was made at Cartes 2006, where SanDisk is demonstrating its products at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center. Cartes is the world’s largest trade show for the smart card and identification industries. Starting this winter, Bouygues will offer TrustedFlash cards for three handsets with memory card slots. Using these cards with the Bouygues i-mode service network, subscribers can purchase, download, securely store, play back and share a variety of premium content.

One forthcoming handset will be sold with a SanDisk TrustedFlash 256-megabyte (MB) microSD card, which contains music and videos. The card is configured so that at the end of play users are taken to the website of the service provider. Concurrent with the introduction of the new TrustedFlash i-mode phone models, SanDisk Mobile Premier microSD 1-gigabyte (GB) cards with TrustedFlash will be sold at Bouygues’ stores throughout France so that users can upgrade their storage capacity. “We expect major mobile phone manufacturers and mobile operators to introduce additional TrustedFlash-enabled handsets early in 2007,” said Yoram Cedar, SanDisk’s executive vice president of handset business and corporate engineering.

Bouygues telecom - SanDisk TrustedFlash memory cards
SanDisk TrustedFlash memory cards will be sold and bundled with mobile phones at electronics and mobile operators’ stores in the countries where the service is available. Bouygues Telecom is the first mobile network operator in the world to adopt TrustedFlash. “Implementing TrustedFlash with SanDisk support was quick and easy,” said Cedric Nicolas, handset design and development director for Bouygues Telecom. “We feel that TrustedFlash provides an end-to-end solution for mobile network operators because it allows them to secure the content with no changes for service providers and the current mobile and DRM (digital rights management) infrastructure. It also reduces the cost of the handsets and offers more value for end-users with the assurance of portability for their content across authorized TrustedFlash-enabled devices.

SanDisk microSD TrustedFlash memory cards - Providers
Using TrustedFlash should help increase our mobile data revenue, reduce churn and generate more signups,” he added. The TrustedFlash platform is aimed at premium content providers such as record labels, movie studios, game producers, mobile phone manufacturers and mobile network operators (MNOs). These worldwide providers of wireless voice and data services can use TrustedFlash cards to store secure data and content as well as to enable new and existing services. TrustedFlash cards can be customized to meet almost any mobile operator’s specific business requirements by integrating the chosen security solution and rights portability across many devices. For consumers, TrustedFlash cards offer access to premium content on handheld devices and the easy exchange of purchased and personal content on the card between devices.
