CanonCanon micro photography : At the Photokina 2006 NKS Tech ApS, a company from Denmark, showcased their portable camera microscope solution. The digital portable field microscope, X-Loupe, is a new tool that combines a digital camera and a microscopic module. It can clearly capture objects with the size of 15mm - 10 microns, which dramatically improves our visual acuity. The X-Loupe series turns micro preview and micro photography into simple and affordable leisure activities, not only raising the quality of life enjoyment but also creating vast business opportunities. NKS Tech showcased a camera microscope solution for the Canon Digital IXUS 60 camera. This combination enables to use the Canon camera for micro photography.

The 2-in-1 device comes with easy-to-use functions. The camera can be transformed into a digital portable field microscope in only a few seconds. The X-Loupe lenses have a built-in LED light: 4 dimmable white-light LEDs solve the most challengeable problems with illumination for micro photography, and photos can be taken at any time in a dark ambience. Magnifications include 60X, 100X and 150X.

• 60X: 16mm x 12mm FOV (with up to 2816 x 2112 pixels) 6 Megapixels
• 100X: 9mm x 6.5mm FOV (with up to 2816 x 2112 pixels) 6 Megapixels
• 150X: 5.7mm x 4.5mm FOV (with up to 2816 x 2112 pixels) 6 Megapixels

Canon Digital IXUS 60

Recording pixels can be selected:
• L (Large): 2816 x 2112 pixels. Purpose: Printing to about A3-size.
• M1 (Medium 1): 2272 x 1704 pixels. Purpose: Printing to about A4-size
• M2 (Medium 2): 1600 x 1200 pixels. Purpose: Printing to about postcard-size
• S (Small): 640 x 480 pixels. Purpose: Send images as e-mail attachments

The images are easy to transfer to PC/Notebook via USB or SD card. Images can be e-mailed worldwide or uploaded to the Internet for Net Meeting purposes. The file size of the images can be configured in the range from 25kB to 3MB, which makes it easy to send the images over Wireless LAN or mobile Internet connections. High durability: The durable made-in-Japan lithium battery cell allows the camera to reproduce approximately 150 shots and make it possible for the camera to run for about 4 hours. Preview and quick browse: Preview the objects under the microscopic lens or browse through captured images in the 2.5 inch LCD screen anytime you like. Easy portability: Pocket-sized, compact with a weight of 300 grams, and can be carried on-the-go.
