3GSM CongressPenthera mobile TV Solution at 3GSM Asia 2006 : Penthera Technologies, Inc., a leading software provider for mobile broadcast TV and multimedia, today announced it is collaborating with Innoxius Technologies Pte. Ltd. to demonstrate a commercially-ready, end-to-end, mobile broadcast solution at this week’s 3GSM Asia 2006 event in Singapore. The solution provides high quality, multimedia broadcasts to mobile devices and demonstrates live, digital TV sent from the show floor to a variety of mobile devices, including GSM phones with integrated DVB-H functionality. “We are very pleased to work with Innoxius to showcase Penthera’s revenue-rich mobile broadcast solution set,” said Sam Leinhardt, CEO of Penthera Technologies, Inc.

“At 3GSM Asia, we are demonstrating the many ways our field proven, available software addres the needs of global manufacturers for world markets.” The DVB-H mobile broadcast demonstration is built on Penthera’s end-to-end, standards-based, mobile broadcast software suite, Innoxius’ mobile broadcast head-end and transmission solution, and a variety of multi-vendor mobile devices. Commercial readiness is shown through functions and situations required in a live broadcast.

TV broadcast - Electronic service guide
For instance, to demonstrate that changes to the broadcast stream can be made without modification to the mobile devices, live additions and deletions to the transmission line-up are made with devices automatically registering the changes and providing users access to the new programs. The mobile clients are also demonstrating a fully functional electronic service guide (ESG) that automatically updates changes as well. These demonstrations are in stark contrast to others at the event that provide a reception of a single, static, pre-programmed channel, with no ESG or automated updates.

Penthera mobile TV - Broadcast services
At the head-end, Innoxius Technologies, a mobile television equipments vendor, has integrated Penthera’s Broadcast Services Platform, a DVB-IPDC-compliant control and services solution that enables unique services such as mediacasting, interactivity, targeted advertising, and usage tracking. These services provide broadcasters and mobile operators significant transaction-based revenue opportunities which drive up average revenue per user. “Innoxius is excited about the cooperation with Penthera that enables an end-to-end mobile television solution,” stated Edmund Yong, CTO of Innoxius Technologies. “Innoxius Technologies, with Penthera’s Broadcast Services Platform, completes the mobile television transmission requirements and enables network operators a fast time-to-market infrastructure that is ready for commercial deployment today.”

Penthera Viewer - Mobile Television
On the mobile clients, Penthera has integrated their industry-leading mobile client application, Penthera Viewer. Penthera Viewer enables mobile devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, laptops and other mobile devices to receive DVB-H and DAB-IP-based TV, radio and media transmissions. It also provides end users with a Virtual Set Top Box on their device - a familiar paradigm easily understood by anyone with home digital cable, terrestrial or satellite services. As a multi-platform, mobile broadcast client solution that supports multiple operating systems and broadcast bearer technologies, Penthera Viewer provides manufacturers with a field-proven design that increases their addressable market from a single design, reduces their time to market, and reduces their development risk and costs.
