GeneralGradual software global graphics technology : Gradual Software, specialists in software solutions for automating the publishing process, announces compatibility of its Switch product line with the Jaws PDF technology provided by Global Graphics. The Jaws PDF creation tools can be integrated with Gradual’s Switch product family members. Switch offers the capability to easily design and manage automated document flows, driving third-party applications including Adobe Creative Suite and various PDF processing tools. FullSwitch and PowerSwitch now also feature a built-in configurator for Jaws PDF Creator and for the Jaws PDF Server Toolkit. This allows users to configure and manage automated PDF creation from PostScript or EPS files.

Jaws PDF technology offers a cost-effective and reliable means of creating robust PDF files. Pre-defined PDF configurations allow users to optimize files for printing presses, for desktop printers, or for publishing on the web or the intranet. Resulting PDF files fully conform to the PDF 1.5 specification, and can be adapted to meet independent standards like the PPA’s Pass4Press. James Bidewell, Director of Sales, eDocument Technologies at Global Graphics says: “Switch is an excellent and extremely flexible publishing automation tool. Configuring Jaws PDF from within Switch is a no-brainer. Users will be able to easily deploy the Jaws PDF creation technology as an integral part of more complete document flows all managed from a single point of control.”

Gradual software - File format
Peter Camps, CEO of Gradual Software, comments: “Although Switch is file format-neutral, we realise that PDF is widely used in professional publishing, so we’re excited to work with Global Graphics, a worldwide leader in PDF technology. The combination of Jaws and Switch technologies provides users with an integrated and robust solution for PDF creation.”

Global graphics technology - Technology
The capability for integration with Jaws PDF creation technology is included in Update 4 of FullSwitch and PowerSwitch, on Microsoft Windows only. Positive Focus, distributor for both the Switch and Jaws PDF product lines in the United Kingdom and Ireland, have created bundle promotions that will be available until the end of 2006 through authorized resellers in their territory. Ivor Dixon, Managing Director of Positive Focus, concludes: “Automating Jaws PDF through Switch offers substantial benefits in producing a robust, fast responding workflow requiring minimal management. The combination is a very cost-effective solution and with this initiative Gradual Software proves once more that it is committed to offering its users a choice of alternate technology wherever it makes sense.”
