Fujifilm MP-300 printer
High-speed infrared communication, or IrSimple, achieves faster data transmission speeds (at least 4 to 10 times faster than at present) by improving the efficiency of the current infrared IrDA protocol embedded in many mobile devices such as mobile phones. In addition, the IrSimple protocol also maintains backward compatibility with the existing IrDA protocols.
Fuji MP300 communications protocol
Incorporating IrSimple in digital consumer electronics devices, like the Fujifilm MP-300 printer and Fujifilm FinePix F31fd camera and home appliances is expected to lead to a significant expansion in applications for this new communications protocol. For example, high-resolution photographs taken with a mobile phone or digital camera can be instantly transferred to a flat-panel TV or printer through a simple operation, similar to that of using a remote control unit.
IrSimple - Main features
• Faster data transmission speeds (at least 4 to 10 times faster than existing protocols)
• Improved efficiency of the protocol by reducing latency until a transmitter is ready to communicate
• Implementing IrSimple can be done by adding or upgrading software for existing IrDA protocols
• Backward compatibility with existing IrDA-enabled communications incorporated into devices
Fujifilm MP-300 photo printer
There is no information about the price or availability of the new Fujifilm MP-300 printer. But the increase of wireless transfer speed via infrared is an interesting feature. Interesting is also the choice for infrared instead of Bluetooth. When you activate a Bluetooth device in an environment like the Photokina you end up in a list of 20+ possible Bluetooth devices to connect to, annoying. Infrared is far more convenient, just aim at the device and the transfer may start.
