SamsungSamsung Pro815 at Photokina : The Samsung booth drew quit a lot of attention and especially the new NV-series were quite appealing to a lot of the visitors. Of course the new 10 Megapixel Samsung GX10 made people curious and a lot of them wanted to find out what the deal is between Samsung and Pentax. Somehow it surprised me to see that Samsung did not introduce a real 100% Samsung-only DSLR. However this new model seems to be the first end-result of the cooperation between Samsung and Pentax and we were promised that we may expect more to come… Among the new stylish Samsung NV-series the Samsung Pro815 was showcased behind the glass. This model was awarded with a DIWA Gold award and is still quit unique in its own way.

Built around a fast 15x Schneider-Kreuznach Varioplan zoom lens equivalent to 28-420mm f/2.2-4.6, with a 3 cm super macro performance, the Samsung Pro815 holds the world record in terms of zoom power in a digital camera. It is also the first camera in the world with three LCD viewfinder solutions. The Samsung Pro815 back is dominated by a gigantic 3.5" LCD-screen, supported by an electronic viewfinder, both with a resolution of 235K for detailed image rendering.

Samsung Pro 815 - Features
To accomodate high or low shooting positions, a third 1.44" display is located on top of the camera, doubling as an information panel. User friendliness is further enhanced by implementing grid lines for easy composition, live histogram, conventional zoom- and focus rings on the lens barrel, and a hybrid AF system with nine focusing points and a powerful AF assisting lamp.
