Photo Imaging ExpoPhoto Imaging expo 2007 : With increased air travel security restrictions and ever-constricting travel budgets, regional tradeshows are gaining in popularity. A mid-2006 survey by the Swiss bank UBS ranks Oslo, London, Copenhagen and Zürich more expensive than Tokyo, which enjoys non-stop air connections with all major Asia-Pacific cities. Tokyo hotel rates are comparable to those in all large European cities, and they do not increase during conventions. With these issues in mind, the Photo Imaging expo 2007 (PIE2007), scheduled for March 22-25, 2007, at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, is being expanded into a “super-regional” combination consumer/professional exposition and conference, organizers said.

The largest photo and imaging trade fair in Asia, PIE2007 will be staged under the theme "Experience It Yourself! The Power of Photos, The Future of Imaging - The Biggest Event Ever in Asia." The show is organized by four Japanese trade associations: Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA), Photo-Sensitized Materials Manufacturers’ Association, Japan Color-Photo Finishers’ Association (JCFA) and Japan Photo and Video Accessory Association - and managed by Fuji Sankei Business i.

Photographic science & technology
A comprehensive program of seminars, symposiums and panel discussions, as well as international exhibitions of photographs, will be highlighted at the tradeshow. For trade visitors, CIPA and GfK will provide an extended program covering the Japanese, Asia-Pacific and other world markets. A separate program will cover picture-taking and picture-making related to mobile imaging devices. Both programs will be available simultaneously in English and Japanese. There will also be business seminars and a meeting of the Society of Photographic Science and Technology of Japan.

Photo Imaging expo 2007 - Photokina
Combining industry-oriented and consumer-oriented tradeshows is not unique: Photokina and other international tradeshows have adopted this approach. To help PIE2007 exhibitors successfully reach public visitors, a special sales area - Horidashimono-ichi (Nice Bargain Market) - has been created. Any exhibitor may rent a counter in this area to sell their “approved” wares. Exhibitors may also apply to make a 45 minute presentation on their new products to tradeshow visitors in a separate room with complete audio-visual facilities.

Photo imaging expo 2007 - International exhibition center
PIE2007 will represent the third year for this show, which combines the various shows previously organized separately by the individual associations. More than 110,000 visitors from Asia, Europe and the Americas are expected to attend the exposition, occupying the West Halls 1-4 of the Tokyo “Big Sight” International Exhibition Center. Some programs will be staged in the conference tower. The goal of the organizers is to have domestic and international exhibitors occupying 1,000 booth units and displaying both conventional and digital products and services.

About the four organizing associations
There are four associations, covering all segments of the photo and imaging industry such image input devices as cameras, film and other photo-sensitized materials, photofinishing services and photo accessories. Each industry association is composed of manufacturers and some distributors, and provides publications, market research and analysis, data collection and statistical preparation, as well as for trade exhibits and wide range of business.
