CanonCanon releases 89 consumer products in 2006 : Canon announces that it will have released a total of 89 new consumer products this year - an average of one consumer product released every four days. The announcement coincides with the start of Photokina, the bi-annual European imaging and photography exhibition hosted in Cologne from tomorrow. Canon holds the number one position in the D-SLR camera, Digital Still Camera, Compact Photo Printer and scanner markets, and has the number one selling product in the Digital Still Camera and Inkjet Printer markets (with the Digital IXUS 55 and PIXMA iP4200 respectively). Canon is also driving the fast growing HD video market with the release of the HV10: world’s smallest HDV 1080i camcorder.

This month, Canon celebrates 10 years of IXUS with the launch of three Digital IXUS cameras, including the Titanium Digital IXUS Ti. All models include Canon’s new 3rd generation DIGIC III processor with FACE Detection Technology. A decade of design innovation confirms IXUS as one of the great success stories in modern consumer electronics, with global sales to date of more than 33 million units.

Canon Media Storage M30 and M80
Today Canon announces the Canon Media Storage M30 and M80 devices, designed with EOS and other digital photographers in mind. The Media Storage M30 and M80 add an important link to the workflow chain of professional photographers on location, outdoor and expedition shoots. They are expected to be popular with the increasing body of digital photographers looking for new ways to store and display favourite shots and extend storage capacity whilst away from the computer.

"Our objective is to create the ultimate D-SLR camera system, the widest range of Digital Still Cameras, functional and stylish designer products, strong sub brands, a broader and strengthened Digital Video Camera range and expanded home photo printing usability and possibilities."
