FujiFilmFujifilm Frontier 500 and 590 minilab : Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. introduces at photokina a trio of new products developed to meet the increasingly diversifying needs of the retail photofinishing business. Since the initial launch of the Digital Minilab Frontier series in May 2000, the Frontier name has become synonymous with high-quality, high-speed print processing. Now, the Digital Minilab Frontier lineup is extended with the introduction of the new entry-level Frontier 500 and the top-of-the-line Frontier 590. Also of interest to photofinishers, new Fujifilm Easy Operation Software (FE Software) is a suite of applications conceived to enhance performance and operability of Digital Minilab Frontier systems.

The new Digital Minilab Frontier 500 inherits the best features of the high-speed Frontier 550/570 models, with the added attraction of superior cost performance. The smallest in the Frontier series, requiring a mere 1.34 m2 of operation space, the Frontier 500 delivers processing capacity of 800 prints per hour (4R size), and achieves a single order processing time of 3 minutes, 44 seconds (24 prints, 4R size; with Fujifilm Crystal Archive Paper Type II and CP-49E chemicals). The Frontier 500 is the optimum entry-level model for anyone interested in starting a digital camera print business.

Digital Minilab Frontier 590
The Digital Minilab Frontier 590 debuts as the top-of-the-line model in the
third-generation Frontier '5' series. With a processing capacity of 2,400 prints per hour (4R size), the new Frontier 590 outperforms the Frontier 570 by 18%. Used in combination with Fujifilm Crystal Archive Paper Type II and CP-49E processing chemicals, the new Frontier 590 achieves a single-order processing time (24 prints, 4R size) of 2 minutes, 19 seconds. Featuring the same ease of operation as the Frontier 550/570 models, the Frontier 590 is also capable of producing prints in the 12-inch-wide format preferred by professional photographers. This sophisticated, high-performance Digital Minilab is recommended for businesses seeking to capitalize on rapidly growing demand for digital prints or for those who want to offer centralized processing for multiple photofinishing outlets.

Fujifilm easy operation software
The trend toward increasingly high resolution digital cameras and high-capacity digital camera media demands ever-higher performance from Digital Minilab units. Photofinishers offering high-quality digital processing services need to minimize the burden on operators while simultaneously meeting a diverse array of customer requests for customized services. To meet these and other photofinishing needs, Fujifilm has developed a new suite of system software applications to enhance Digital Minilab Frontier operability and efficiency. The brand new Fujifilm Easy Operation Software (FE Software) offers a host of performance-enhancing features.

Frontier performance features
A simplified user interface combines Digital Imaging Controller and Film Scanner input screens, making it possible to offer the same level of functionality for both digital camera and film processing orders. This integrated input screen eases the burden on the operator and boosts efficiency in handling the increasing volume of digital processing requests. Installation of FE Software significantly boosts Digital Minilab Frontier digital print processing capacity, making it possible to handle high volume image produced by the latest digital camera models.

Enhanced image processing
Image Intelligence Ver. 2.5 offers enhanced image processing functions, such as fully automatic red-eye detection and correction, ensuring high-quality photo prints to satisfy the most demanding customers. Incorporating an array of functions to ensure high-quality and enhanced efficiency, FE Software is conceived to increase the scope and profitability of photofinishing services in today's competitive digital print processing market.
