OlympusOlympus sponsors Jon Nicholson Inside Ferrari book : Formula 1 fans and lovers of great photography will find plenty to interest them in the new book, Inside Ferrari by Jon Nicholson. Inside Ferrari is published by Mitchel Beazley and features 288 pages of stunning images taken by Jon when he was the official Olympus photographer during the camera company’s three year sponsorship of the Ferrari F1 team. During this time, Jon worked exclusively with the cameras and lenses from the Olympus E-System to record a unique and detailed insight into the exciting world of F1. The award-winning Olympus E-System is the world’s first professional SLR system designed, from its outset, exclusively for digital photography.

Since its launch in 2003 with the ground breaking E-1, three more camera bodies have been added to the E-System: the E-300, E-500 and E-330. All of these feature Olympus’ innovative Supersonic Wave Filter to protect them against dust contamination. And, as the Zuiko interchangeable lenses in the E-System are designed specifically for digital imaging, full use is made of every single pixel on the cameras’ CCD’s resulting in brilliantly detailed photographs, such as those on the pages of Inside Ferrari.

Jon Nicholson - Sports photographer
Jon Nicholson has made a reputation for himself in the world of sports photography. As well as this new three-year study of Ferrari, Jon’s books include work with Damon Hill, Linford Christie, Chelsea Football Club and Barcelona FC. Jon is currently working on a book for the BBC on the River Ganges to be published in 2007.

To mark the launch of Jon Nicholson’s Inside Ferrari, Olympus UK are inviting special guests to The Music Rooms on Thursday 14th September for an exclusive private viewing featuring large scale images from the book, taken by Jon using the E-System, and to give them an exhilarating glimpse behind the scenes at F1. Produced in large format and with text written by Radio 5 Live commentator, Morris Hamilton, Inside Ferrari features photos carefully selected by Jon to ‘tell a story’ and capture the energy of one of world’s fastest sports. The book will be available for £25.
