PanasonicPanasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 digital camera review : This February, Panasonic introduced the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 digital compact camera in Lisbon. During the introduction, it soon became clear that it was an extremely compact Mega zoom camera, in fact, one of the world's smallest Mega zoom digital cameras with 10x optical zoom. As well as its compact size, the Panasonic Lumix TZ1 has 5 million effective pixels from a 6.37 Megapixel CCD image sensor. One of this electronic giant's major achievements is the application of the MEGA O.I.S. throughout the entire range of Panasonic digital cameras. This sort of image stabilizer is essential in a Mega zoom digital camera because the strong enlargement factor and light weight of the cameras.

The Mega O.I.S. helps you to take clear, beautiful pictures without any picture quality deterioration. An additional boost to the Panasonic TZ1’s performance is the newly developed image processing LSI, the Venus Engine III, which detects both chromatic and luminance noise separately and suppresses only the chromatic noise levels, which drastically reduce image quality, as a result, shooting at ISO 800 in full resolution is made possible.

Panasonic Lumix TZ1 - LCD Display
The five megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 digital camera has an intuitively bright 2.5” large, high resolution (207k pixels) LCD which offers clear and easy viewing, even in low-light situations, by automatically increasing the brightness levels as appropriate. The camera has a very user-friendly way of operating. The menu is fast to navigate and straightforward. The housing has a solid feel to it and the design is both stylish and classic at the same time.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 - Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens
The lens part of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 features the world’s first integration of a retractable lens system with folded optics technology realized by the inclusion of a prism. It also incorporates three aspherical lenses, the crystallization of Panasonic optics technology, all resulting in an amazingly powerful 10x optical zoom Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens contained within a compact body. The zoom ratio can be extended up to 12.5x in 3-megapixel resolution mode thanks to the Extra Optical Zoom function which gives extra magnification (and minimal image deterioration) by intentionally using the centre part of the CCD.

Panasonic Lumix TZ1 - Secure Digital memory card
Panasonic is one of the three brands (the others being SanDisk and Toshiba) that established the SD Card Association (an open industry standards organization that promotes SD as a worldwide standard). Therefore it does not come as a surprise to see Panasonic Lumix digital cameras using the Secure Digital flash memory card as its main storage medium. The Panasonic TZ1 comes with a built-in memory card of approximately 13.4MB capacity. In the battery compartment of the camera you will find a Secure Digital slot.
